Chelsea’s Posts
with the changing of the leaves, comes two adventures.
Monday, June 15th, 2009personally, im ecstatic about the new projects that are underway at bedouins. so ecstatic, i have to fill everyone in! i know its only june and everyone is still soaking up the sun and milkshakes, but october is already completely and totally planned for us! ah!
In October, Stephen will be going to Cairo, Egypt to team up with Times Square Church. We will be telling the story of two people groups living on the outskirts of the city: the Sudanese refugees and the “garbage people”. Basically, the garbage people are called that name for exactly how it sounds. They making a living and live on the garbage heaps of Cairo. Unfortunately, the government will not even acknowledge that these people exist and therefor, the garbage people are living in complete poverty with little outlet for hope. Bedouins and Times Square Church will be giving the unseen a voice and telling their story to as many people as possible. You can learn more about this project at bedouins goes to cairo.
Right after this, Jessi will be flying out to meet Stephen in Nairobi, Kenya to partner with KISI-Kiini Sustainable Initiative. The Kiini Sustainable Initiative is a non-government organization in Nairobi that works for gender equality, social economic empowerment and instilling potential within the marginilized societies. We will be equipping them with media tools such as a website and documentary, to further their cause.
i hope that while reading this your getting chill bumps on your arms thinking about all that is to come in the fall, because i definitly am. refocusing the heart of the media….it’s an adventure.

intern here.
Wednesday, June 10th, 2009hellooo. my name is chelsea and i’m the new intern here at bedouins. im a 2o year old public relations/art student at lee university and all i want to do in life is hold the hands of the broken. i am so excited to be able to be working at bedouins this summer.

a few thoughts about media:
its okay to put your ipod on pause, your cell phone on silent and your television on mute. i know we are living in a time when media consumes our daily lives. but here is a moment to pause and realize media isn’t just entertainment. its not just what we do on the way to work, or after dinner. its not the homework alternative.
media did not ask for us to give it all of our attention and nothing else. we’re allowed to use media too. and media has the ability to change and reconnect the world.
here at bedouins life is about taking stories that have never been told and using media to share them with the rest of the world.
but don’t sit back and wait for us to show you whats next.
the best part of media is that you can use it to change the world too.
