Jessi in Africa

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

This trip to Kenya for the Kiini Project was Jessi’s first trip to Africa and she had a blast.  It’s one of those places that it’s hard not to fall in love with.  Here’s a shot of Jessi from our day with Bishop Matolo in Muchakos.  Also check out some shots that I did for Times Square Church in Texas a few months ago when we were building homes to ship to Haiti HERE.

Day After: Food for Thought

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

it’s crazy to lay here in a nice bed in a nice house with my nice new christmas gifts typing on my nice computer and looking at this photo that I took in October.  There are people living here right now.  They didn’t have a Christmas.  They dug through garbage again for stuff that they could sell in order to survive.  To them, yesterday was just another day of digging.  Pretty crazy to think about that.  Even crazier not to let things like that change you.  This new years, be changed…and in turn…change the world around you.

Hotels

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

Only 2 nights in my own bed after my trip to Africa and I find myself in a hotel again.  It’s a weird feeling, coming and going.  I love traveling, and God is letting me live my dream in that I get to see the world…to photograph it and enjoy it.  But I miss my bed sometimes.  Miss my home.  Miss my friends, my roommates, the Bedouins staff…

I’m really excited about next week…7 nights in a row in my own bed.  7 days in a row in the loft working and shooting and editing.  It’s nice to be grounded sometimes.

One more from Kenya…many more to come.  Love you guys.

Rest and Relaxation

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

It’s been an amazing trip. I’m back in Nairobi now, relaxing after a week in the bush camping out with the Maasai. I’ll have a lot to say, and a ton of photos to show soon…but it’s late and I’m exhausted. We arrived in Meto to a gathering of the entire village singing us in…it was a powerful sight/sound to say the least. Only later did we find out that they were singing worship songs. Amazing. Here’s an audio clip from that first day and a picture of the people singing us in. Glad to be back. Missed you all!
